CIT & LIT Programs

LIT Program - Ages 13 + 14

The Leader-in-Training (LIT) program is a two-week program that gives adolescents the opportunity to live and learn in a positive outdoor camp setting. LITs receive instruction though team-building, goal-setting, communication, and environmental stewardship activities. The program is fun and challenging and promotes independence while cultivating ability.

LITs must meet high expectations and be role models for their peers at Camp Rotary.

- Small- and large-group initiatives

- Goal setting

- Introduction to programming

- Verbal and non-verbal communication

- Team-building activities

- Stress management

- Disability awareness

- Basic camping skills

- Two-day camping trip

CIT Program - Ages 15 - 17

The Counsellor-in-Training (CIT) program is a two-week program that puts further emphasis on team-building, goal-setting, communication, and leadership skills. This program offers a community-based approach to leadership, and participants will apply the skills they learn to community and camp events. Participants gain experience as counsellors and in program development, and they spend time helping in cabins during the Youth Venture Camp for children with physical and developmental disabilities. Enrollment to this program is limited. Participants must be at least 14 years of age by June of the summer they apply.

CITs must meet high expectations and be role models for campers, LITs, and peers at Camp Rotary.

- Working with parents

- Conflict management

- Disability awareness and skills (feeding, hygiene, lifting, and pushing)
